Creating my own personal space was one of the most important steps I took to change and express myself. Even when I created the character of Quilvei, I wanted her to express herself through her presence in different spaces, because space has its own language.
Places are not just places; they carry deep meanings that reflect who we are and our personalities. That's why people invest in home decor and spend a long time choosing a house beforehand.
It's said that places have their own souls, and I believe they take on a part of the soul of their inhabitants in one way or another. Every piece of furniture, every picture on the wall, every chair, every rug, every part of your home tells a story about you. The stories surrounding spaces are what give them value; they tell your story, they express you, they tell others about your identity—that it's your special place.

But because homes are usually shared spaces, they hold more than one story, so I always encourage my readers to create their own personal space. Do you see that seemingly insignificant corner in a room, perhaps used for storage? Create your own personal corner there. Take a pillow with a cover you love, a notebook, a pen, and maybe a small candle or lamp, perhaps a paper decoration. If it's near a window, let the light in. Gaze at the sky; it offers a beautiful, varied blue backdrop. Play soothing music—the sound of rain, the wind. I adore sound effects, especially the sound of rain.
There's no such thing as a permanent corner to be your own. So, create a special, mobile space or corner. Take your own pillow, perhaps a special blanket, a notebook, a laptop, or a book. Turn on a lamp or the TV and create a beautiful chimney. Let the sound of crackling coals and the fire touch your heart. Open a landscape view of a rainforest, a raging sea... Create your own world and allow yourself to enter it for an hour, or less, or more. Then gather your things, put them in their designated place in your wardrobe, and leave them there to rest before returning to your work, your duties, or your responsibilities to others. When one has a mobile or even private space, and because we don't usually live alone, you will inevitably find different people trying to invade this space out of curiosity, to pass the time, or to participate.
Remember, you don't have to be mean to anyone when they try to invade your world, but you can be firm and set some small rules of your own. Be kind, for this space is to unleash yourself, your thoughts, to do what you want. An angry, resentful, and tense soul is not good at creativity... so remember that. I chose to have my own corner on the balcony because it gives me a sense of freedom and connection between the inner and outer worlds, and between public and private spaces. I chose that place and made it my own creative paradise. I surrounded myself with things I love and created a nice decor that I like. From the balcony, I see the blue sky and hear the birds chirping. There, I am in my own world, and when I leave that place, I am a person who takes responsibility with competence. When I enter that corner, I feel comfortable, light, and perhaps a little inspired.
