The world is currently obsessed with Punch the Monkey, a baby monkey abandoned by his mother and raised by zookeepers. You can't open any media outlet, especially social media, without finding videos of the adorable monkey.
People have flocked to see the abandoned monkey, either out of curiosity or to film and fill their accounts. Views matter, and following the trend means good profits. You'll find videos about the cute monkey in every language in the world: people crying over the monkey, others preparing to travel to Japan to see him, and still others declaring their willingness to adopt him and protect him from the evil monkeys.
The video creators are happy with the viewership, the zoo is happy with the increased visits, and IKEA is happy with the profits from the monkey toy.
Of course, some people are completely unhappy with what's happening for many reasons. Still, I won't talk about them... this isn't the place for serious topics... I'll leave that for the academic section if I decide to write an article...!!
Honestly, I'm one of the happy people who believe that Punch the Monkey, as a vulnerable creature, has received attention and care, and his relationship with other monkeys is improving. He seems cute as he grows and plays. I even heard recently that his relationship with his mother has improved, too. (:

What caught my attention was the incredible speed at which the trend spread, and even more surprising was its rapid evolution. From making chocolate with dry cocoa powder to the ingenuity of artificial intelligence in producing videos, managing your life, and even rewarding you while you sleep—considering that AI is self-contained, capable of downloading, uploading, and so on—to the little monkey who was rejected by his mother and adopted by the world... and IKEA...
Again, I'm avoiding sensitive topics and comparisons because this isn't a page for serious matters.
I want to share my experience watching Punch. All living beings, rational and otherwise, deserve respect because life deserves respect. Compassion isn't limited to humans or animals; it extends to everything. Life isn't valuable because of a trend, because trends fade and die. Life is valuable. Because it's valuable, and whether it's trending or not, whether it's an animal, a plant, or an alien, I share the world's joy in finding kind hearts that have shown it compassion... and how I wish the whole world would become compassionate, starting with itself...
People should Learn to have mercy on that reflection in the mirror, have mercy on it because it's a life that struggled and strived to keep their important existence on Earth. Learn to love and have mercy on yourself, and then have mercy on those around you. Compassion is a beautiful act that you can practice by at least refraining from stepping on a flower...
Learn that those who don't have mercy on themselves won't receive mercy from others... because everyone sees you as a commodity... a commodity and a trend... even you yourself, as you spend hours in front of the camera trying to make yourself a commodity and a trend... so learn... compassion...
And how happy I am that Punch looks well today...
